How Thorntech Fire & Security handles personal information when you use this website, contact us or enquire about our services.
Last updated: 16 October 2026
Who is responsible for your information?
Thorntech (South West) Ltd, trading as Thorntech Fire & Security, is the controller of personal information covered by this notice. Our company number is 13616892.
Our registered office is Holloway House, Epsom Square, White Horse Business Park, Trowbridge, BA14 0XG. You can contact us about privacy at [email protected] or on 01225 683699.
Information we receive
When you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide. This can include your name, organisation, email address, telephone number, the service you are interested in, details of your premises or project, and correspondence with us.
When you visit the website, our hosting and security providers may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, and the time of a request. This helps deliver the website and protect it against misuse. Please share only the information needed for your enquiry and avoid including sensitive personal information in the message field.
How the website enquiry form works
When you send an enquiry using a website form, the website saves a copy in its WordPress database and attempts to email a notification to [email protected]. This allows authorised Thorntech administrators to follow up on your request, including if the email notification fails. The enquiry form does not subscribe you to marketing.
The stored copy includes the details you submit and may include technical context such as browser, operating system and the page from which you submitted it. The enquiry forms are not configured to save your IP address in the submission record. Separate hosting and security logs may still contain an IP address.
You can contact us directly by email or telephone if you prefer. Please share only details needed for your enquiry and avoid sensitive personal information.
Why we use information and our lawful bases
- Responding to enquiries and preparing quotations: our legitimate interests in communicating with prospective customers and running our business. Where you are entering into a contract with us personally, we may also process information to take steps at your request before that contract.
- Arranging and providing services: performance of a contract with you, or our legitimate interests in providing services to an organisation you represent.
- Keeping business, tax and accounting records: compliance with legal obligations.
- Maintaining the website, security and business communications, and handling disputes: our legitimate interests in operating a reliable and secure business, subject to your rights and interests.
- Optional cookies or similar technologies that require consent: your consent, as explained in our Cookie Policy.
Contact information and relevant project details are needed for us to respond properly or arrange the requested service. If you do not provide them, we may be unable to do so. We do not use information submitted through this website to make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
Who may receive your information
Authorised Thorntech administrators can access enquiries saved in the website. Providers of website hosting, email, IT, maintenance, backup and security support may process information where needed to operate the website and handle enquiries. WPDesigns provides website maintenance support and can access the website in that role. Professional advisers or public authorities may receive information where required for legal obligations or legal claims.
We limit sharing to information relevant to the purpose. Contact us if you need further information about the providers involved in your enquiry or service.
Website providers and external resources
The website uses Cloudflare services for network security and delivery. Requests to these services may disclose technical information, including your IP address and browser details, to the provider. The website uses font files hosted on this website; public page fonts do not require a request to Google Fonts.
The website also includes a Cloudflare JavaScript beacon for website usage and browser-performance measurement, such as page views and loading performance. Cloudflare describes this service as using no cookies or local storage for its usage metrics. This measurement is separate from Google Analytics. The cookie preferences control optional cookie categories; they do not disable the Cloudflare performance beacon.
Google Analytics and advertising tags are not currently configured on the public website. If Analytics is introduced, we will update this notice and the consent settings with the relevant purposes, identifiers, sharing, international processing, retention and visitor choices before optional measurement is enabled. Google Search Console provides search-performance and indexing reports for website operators; it is separate from visitor Analytics and does not itself require an Analytics tag.
Webvizio is connected for website review and feedback work. Its local helper activates the review script when the website is opened inside a frame or with a review-task link. Review sessions may share page and feedback information with Webvizio. This is separate from ordinary website Analytics.
Our Cookie Policy explains the website's cookies and browser storage. Links to other websites lead to services governed by their own privacy notices. You can contact us with questions about website measurement or the handling of your information.
International processing
Cloudflare receives technical request information, such as your IP address, when your browser connects to the website and its network or measurement services. Cloudflare operates internationally. Its Privacy Policy explains how it handles information, including international processing.
You can contact us for information about the providers used for your enquiry or service and any relevant international processing.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected. For enquiries, this depends on the time needed to respond and complete relevant follow-up. For customers, it also depends on the service relationship, ongoing support or warranty needs, and applicable accounting, tax and other legal requirements.
We also consider whether information is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Personal information should be deleted or anonymised once it is no longer needed for these purposes. Website backup copies may include saved enquiries and remain until those backups are replaced or deleted under the backup arrangements. A specific automatic deletion period for enquiry records is not currently configured.
Contact us if you need more information about retention for a particular enquiry or service. Cookie and browser-storage periods are described in our Cookie Policy.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access your personal information, correct inaccurate information, erase information, restrict its use, or receive information in a portable format. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in data protection law.
Your right to object: you can object to processing based on our legitimate interests. You can also object to the use of your information for direct marketing at any time.
Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. Use the Cookie settings control to change website cookie choices, or contact us about other consent-based processing.
To exercise a right, email [email protected]. We may need information to confirm your identity before responding.
Questions and complaints
Please contact us if you have a question or concern about how your information is used. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113. You do not have to contact us first to exercise that right.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when our website, services or information-handling arrangements change. The date at the top shows when this version was last updated.
